• Krafton India has invested in Shuru, a hyperlocal social networking platform based in Indore with over 2 million monthly users.
  • Shuru, founded by ex-Roposo leaders, has surpassed 1 crore installs and operates across 650,000+ locations in India.

South Korean gaming major Krafton, through its Indian subsidiary, has a strategic investment in Shuru, a location-based social networking startup based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

While the amount remains undisclosed, the deal marks another milestone in Krafton's ongoing push into India’s digital ecosystem.

Founded by Mayank Bhangadia and Harsh Chhabra, Shuru empowers users through hyperlocal content, offering updates, buy-sell listings, shop information, and classifieds tailored to their geographic area.

The app currently serves over 2 million monthly active users and has crossed 1 crore installations across India.

This funding round also saw participation from Omidyar Network India and Eximius Ventures, who are existing investors in the company.

Mayank, an IIT Delhi alumnus, previously co-founded Roposo, a short-video platform that scaled to 100 million users before being acquired by Glance. Harsh, who handled product development at Roposo, later launched GoParento, a community platform for parents.

Synergies in Vision and Scale

Krafton views this investment as a way to deepen its engagement with regional audiences and enable Shuru to benefit from its gaming expertise.

"The hyperlocal digital ecosystem in India holds immense promise, and we see it as a vital driver of connectivity and community engagement. Shuru is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation in India," said Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of Krafton India.
"With 650,000+ locations on board and recently crossing 1 crore installations, we're creating a platform that will redefine the way Indians live, work, and interact," said Bhangadia, adding that Krafton’s support would accelerate innovation and scale.

Since 2021, Krafton has invested over $200 million in Indian startups, supporting ventures in gaming, esports, and technology, including through its Krafton India Gaming Incubator (KIGI).

The latest move underscores Krafton’s long-term commitment to India’s digital landscape.
