• To increase its global gaming presence, Nazara Technologies paid ₹247 crore to acquire the whole UK-based PC and console game producer Curve Digital Entertainment Limited.
  • The acquisition from UK-based Catalis Group supports Nazara’s strategy to expand into high-end, cross-platform gaming, adding Curve’s strong IPs and 100M+ game downloads.

Gaming firm Nazara Technologies announced the full acquisition of UK-based PC and console game publishing firm Curve Digital Entertainment Limited for Rs 247 crore ($29 million) on May 20.

The company, in a statement filed with the stock exchange on Tuesday, said it is acquiring its wholly owned subsidiary, Nazara Technologies UK Ltd.

Once the deal is sealed, CDEL will cease to be a subsidiary of Nazara.  Curve's six subsidiaries, namely IronOak Games, Runner Duck Games, and Kuju Ltd., are also included under the agreement that will be merged into Nazara's portfolio later on.

The Catalis Group, a media and entertainment company based in the UK that owns a portfolio of interactive entertainment and QA/testing businesses, is the vendor of CDEL.

The acquisition aligns with Nazara's strategy to expand its global footprint in the high-end game publishing world. Curve has a good portfolio of authentic intellectual properties and an impressive track record, and has registered CY24 revenues of ₹263.5 crore and EBITDA of GBP 10.6 million, or approximately ₹120 crore.

Curve Games has a robust publishing track record, having published popular games that have accumulated more than 100 million downloads in total. It is established in key gaming markets in Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America.

"Curve’s proven expertise in PC and console publishing makes them an ideal partner as we expand our focus beyond mobile into high-quality, cross-platform gaming. This acquisition deepens our capabilities, brings exceptional IP (intellectual property) into our fold, and strengthens our mission in building Nazara as a global gaming powerhouse from India,” Nitish Mittersain, CEO of Nazara Technologies, said.

He further stated that the deal is part of Nazara's continued efforts to build its global publishing prowess and comes on the heels of a string of such strategic deals made over the years, reinforcing Nazara's focus on long-term, value-creating growth across the gaming life cycle.

Titan Insider Digital has announced definitive deals to sell TJRWrestling.net and ITRWrestling.com to Absolute Sports, which is part of Nazara Technologies and the parent of Sportskeeda.com.

To finance its global expansion plan, Nazara has also set aside $100 million for future mergers and acquisitions.
