• Nazara Technologies has invested $250,000 (Rs 2.17 crore) for a 3.57% stake in ReelSaga, a pre-launch app offering serialized short drama videos.
  • The investment aligns with Nazara’s strategy of integrating gaming and digital media, similar to its previous investments in Rusk Media and Kofluence.

Nazara Technologies has announced a $250,000 (Rs 2.17 crore) investment for a 3.57 percent stake in ReelSaga, a pre-launch app focused on serialized short drama videos. The move is part of Nazara’s strategy to expand into the growing market of short-form digital entertainment, which integrates gaming and media elements.

ReelSaga, incorporated in 2024, aims to offer vertically shot, serialized video series with episodes lasting between one to two minutes. The company plans to monetize its content through microtransactions, allowing users to pay per episode, alongside exclusive passes and subscription plans.

According to Nazara, the app is designed to cater to India’s digitally active, mobile-first audience. Commenting on the investment, Nazara Technologies stated,

“The foundational aspects of gaming and short drama video business models align closely, creating significant opportunities for multifold returns.”

Nazara has previously made strategic investments in digital media and gaming-related ventures. In 2021, its esports subsidiary, Nodwin Gaming, invested in Rusk Media, a mobile-first digital content company producing serialized social and streaming video intellectual properties (IPs).

Rusk Media has collaborated with Nodwin Gaming for the gaming entertainment show Playground, which has completed four seasons and is available on Amazon MX Player. The studio arm of Rusk Media has also developed over 25 video IPs featured on platforms such as YouTube, JioHotstar, and Amazon MX Player.

Apart from digital media, Nazara has also expanded its presence in influencer marketing. The company recently acquired a 10.77 percent stake in Kofluence for Rs 32.4 crore through a secondary transaction.

Kofluence co-founder and CEO Sreeram Reddy Vanga had earlier sold his previous venture, OpenPlay, to Nazara for Rs 186.4 crore in 2021.

Last year, Nazara and Kofluence announced plans to launch an influencer-driven game discovery platform. The initiative aims to leverage influencers to promote Nazara’s gaming content across various social media channels.
