• Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Bluesky following former President Barack Obama’s arrival on the platform last week.
  • Bluesky has over 33 million users, positioning itself as an alternative for those disillusioned by X’s rightward shift under Elon Musk.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has officially joined Bluesky, marking another high-profile addition to the decentralized social media platform.

This move follows former President Barack Obama’s debut on Bluesky last week, signaling a potential shift among prominent political figures looking for alternatives to X.

Clinton confirmed her Bluesky account’s legitimacy through an Instagram story and a post on X.

In her introductory post, Clinton addressed the significance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court election taking place on Tuesday.

The race has drawn national attention as its outcome could determine the political direction of the swing state’s highest court, influencing key rulings on abortion rights, redistricting, and other critical issues.

Meanwhile, X owner Elon Musk has reportedly funneled over $20 million into Republican candidate Brad Schimel’s campaign.

His financial involvement in the election mirrors his previous contributions, including a $250 million donation to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Musk has also been accused of providing direct financial incentives, allegedly issuing two $1 million checks to Schimel voters.

As Musk strengthens his ties with the Trump administration, Bluesky has continued to attract users who are dissatisfied with X’s shift to the right.

Though Bluesky’s user base remains smaller than X’s, the platform has grown significantly, now boasting more than 33 million users.

The arrival of Clinton and Obama adds credibility to Bluesky, solidifying its position as a rising competitor in the social media landscape.

While the platform still has a long way to go before rivaling X’s influence, the migration of high-profile figures could accelerate its growth and appeal.
