Healthcare-focused edtech platform Virohan is in the final stages of raising Rs 60–70 crore (approximately $7–8 million) in a new funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP), sources confirmed to IndianStartupNews (ISN).
The fresh capital is expected to value the company at around $70–80 million, as Virohan plans to dilute about 10% of its stake for the deal.
The move signals a broader resurgence of investor interest in the Indian edtech space, which had seen a sharp downturn following high-profile struggles at companies like Byju’s and Unacademy.
Despite this backdrop, Virohan’s healthcare-focused model appears to be attracting renewed investor confidence.
Virohan, which provides online certification and vocational training in the healthcare sector, is backed by Blume Ventures. The new round led by BVP, an investor known for bets on startups like Swiggy, BigBasket, and PharmEasy, could mark a significant milestone in Virohan’s growth trajectory.
“Virohan however stands out, it is very close to finalising the round and will be valued at around $70–80 million as 10% is being diluted so BVP can come onboard,”
a source told ISN. Both BVP and Virohan declined to respond to emails requesting comment.
Virohan isn’t alone. The past year has seen edtech firms like PhysicsWallah, Eruditus, UpGrad, Leap, Bhanzu, and Emversity successfully raise funding rounds. Notably, PhysicsWallah raised over $200 million, while Eruditus and UpGrad secured $150 million and $60 million respectively.
As it eyes more consumer-centric deals, BVP is also ramping up its focus on AI. Earlier this week, it appointed Pankaj Mitra, formerly with Cisco and Infosys, to lead its AI and enterprise-tech strategy in India.
