Tinder is taking online dating to a new level by letting users flirt with AI. The dating giant has launched The Game Game, an interactive AI-powered feature designed to help people sharpen their flirting skills in a low-pressure, playful environment.

Developed in collaboration with OpenAI, The Game Game throws users into AI-generated meet-cute scenarios where they must verbally respond to virtual personas.

After each exchange, the AI gives ratings on a three-flame scale and real-time feedback on what worked, what flopped, and how to improve. Try too hard? The AI might suggest toning it down. Lack of confidence? Expect a nudge to dig deeper with better follow-ups.

"This project gave us a chance to experiment with how AI can make dating a little more fun and a little less intimidating," said Alex Osborne, Senior Director of Product Innovation at Match Group.

The game runs on OpenAI’s Realtime API and GPT-4o models, with Tinder emphasizing that privacy and safety are built in—user data won’t be used to train AI models. Currently, The Game Game is only available for iOS users in the U.S. for a limited time.

This move aligns with Tinder’s ongoing push to integrate AI into dating, following last year’s AI-powered photo selector. As AI-driven social interactions become more common, Tinder is betting that a little digital flirtation practice might just lead to real-world romance.
