- Apple released an update (macOS 15.0.1) to fix issues in macOS 15 Sequoia that affected third-party cybersecurity tools like CrowdStrike’s Falcon and Microsoft Defender.

Apple has released an update for its macOS 15 Sequoia, aiming to resolve issues that disrupted the functionality of several cybersecurity products, including CrowdStrike’s Falcon and Microsoft Defender. The problems, which arose following the September launch of macOS 15, impacted the compatibility of third-party security tools, drawing criticism from cybersecurity experts.
In its release notes for macOS 15.0.1, Apple states that the update “improves compatibility with third-party security software.” TechCrunch reported that Apple highlighted the update via email but did not provide further information when asked for clarification.
Patrick Wardle, founder of macOS and iOS security startup DoubleYou, expressed his relief on X, noting that the macOS update addresses “networking issues that plagued the initial macOS 15 release.”
He criticized those who blamed third-party vendors, stating, “this was an Apple bug reported before GM [golden master].”
Earlier, cybersecurity professionals had voiced their concerns about the macOS 15 update. CrowdStrike spokesperson Kevin Benacci said the company was “waiting for a macOS Sequoia update” to offer full support for its products.
Similarly, Ugur Koc, a cloud engineer for Glueckkanja, confirmed on X that the update “resolves the issue with [Microsoft] Defender for Endpoint and other antivirus software, where the network filter was causing issues with the internet connectivity.”
Despite the update, neither CrowdStrike nor Microsoft provided an official comment on whether the fixes had fully restored functionality to their products on the new macOS version.
