Donut, an AI-powered crypto browser startup, has raised $7 million in a pre-seed round to build a new kind of web interface for blockchain interaction. The round was led by Hongshan (formerly Sequoia CN), along with BITKRAFT and HackVC, the company announced Thursday on X.

Donut is building an agentic browser, a crypto-native browser that uses AI agents to help users transact, trade, and earn in real-time. Built on Solana, the browser integrates a native wallet and is designed to work seamlessly with decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and other blockchain protocols.

According to Donut, its AI algorithms actively process both webpage content and user actions, enabling the browser to autonomously execute on-chain operations. The idea is to reduce the friction users typically experience when navigating crypto tools, especially when it comes to wallet management, bridging assets, and interacting with smart contracts.

In its announcement, Donut described the interface as functioning "like a terminal" for blockchain applications, merging AI automation with real-time DeFi capabilities.

While crypto has long promised disintermediation, usability remains a hurdle. With this approach, Donut joins a growing cohort of teams betting on AI agents as the next leap for on-chain user experience, especially as the complexity of decentralized infrastructure continues to rise.

The team hasn’t disclosed a launch date yet, but the funding marks a strong signal that investors see potential in this AI x crypto convergence, particularly as interest in agentic web experiences gains traction.
