- The inaugural Sustainable Manufacturing Expo (SME) emphasized the integration of AI and automation to enhance efficiency and profitability in manufacturing.
- Case studies highlighted significant waste reduction through AI-powered process controls and real-time data analytics.
- The expo underscored the importance of sustainable practices in attracting a skilled workforce and fostering industry collaboration.
The Sustainable Manufacturing Expo (SME), the first North American event to showcase the latest technologies and thought leadership advancing sustainable manufacturing processes, successfully convened industry leaders, innovators and experts to explore the transformative role of technology in promoting sustainable manufacturing practices.
With over 2000 attendees and 100 exhibitors at the Anaheim Convention Centre, the event highlighted how integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and automation can drive operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance profitability within the manufacturing sector.
Co-located with WestPack and with its central theme being the economic viability of sustainable practices, the event explored strategies to drive business growth, cut waste and boost efficiencies in manufacturing and packaging.
Although historically viewed as cost-prohibitive, sustainability is now recognized as a catalyst to profitability.
Focused on providing an unparalleled experience, it offered a robust educational program across five distinct stages. These were carefully designed to empower industry professionals with the latest insights and best practices in sustainable manufacturing.
The event encouraged collaboration through interactive sessions like the Idea Exchange and Speed Networking, allowing exhibitors and attendees to engage in dynamic discussions and form valuable connections.
"The launch of Sustainable Manufacturing Expo was a tremendous success, bringing together a highly engaged audience eager to learn and seek out solutions for a more responsible future." Melissa Magestro, Vice President of Informa Markets Engineering and Founder of Sustainable Manufacturing Expo.
"The event provided a strong foundation for future growth, reinforcing that sustainability is not only an industry priority but also a key driver of cost efficiency and business success."
The SME underscored the symbiotic relationship between sustainability and profitability.
By leveraging AI, automation, and data analytics, manufacturers can achieve operational excellence while minimizing their environmental footprint.
"Sustainability is an innovation driver for the manufacturing sector, catalyzed by digital transformation," says Iana Aranda, Managing Director, Sustainability, ASME exhibitor and sponsor for Sustainable Manufacturing Expo.
The event highlighted that sustainable manufacturing is not just an ethical imperative but also a strategic business decision that can drive growth and competitiveness in the modern industrial landscape.
