Soozhal was founded by Prabu Mejel Xavier, a seasoned storyteller with a deep passion for narrative arts. Backed by Angel Investor & Serial Entrepreneur - Mr Senthil Sankar.

Mejel’s journey into storytelling began early, growing up in a household of avid readers and film enthusiasts. His ability to captivate audiences through storytelling was evident from his school days, where he became a prominent figure in theatre. 

His expertise spans multiple roles, including theatre artist, theatre director, film assistant director, dialogue trainer, and acting coach, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the industry’s storytelling needs.

Before founding Soozhal, Mejel worked as the Dialogue trainer for ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and Acting Trainer for Indian Cricketer Irfan Pathan.

Later, when he started writing for films he was represented by the Collective Artists Network in Chennai, collaborating with major production houses in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. 

His extensive experience in writing and IP creation led to the inception of Soozhal Cineemas, a company committed to bridging the gap between writers and the entertainment industry.

Resonating Beyond Worlds

Soozhal aims to make a longevity impact in the entertainment industry. It has built an online platform called 'JustWrite' to form a bridge between writers and the entertainment industry. ‘JustWrite’ is a Behance for writers, along with e-learning modules for screenwriting.

“I see us making the entertainment industry more democratic, where stories and writers get the recognition and value they truly deserve. Our goal is to level the playing field and make it easier for talent to be discovered, no matter where they come from,” Prabu Mejel remarks.

Soozhal is in talks with the state government’s skill development corporation to execute a Writers Accelerator Program with a pitchfest.

Writers will submit their story ideas on JustWrite, and if their idea and profile stand out, they’ll be selected for a 90 days-long accelerator program.

There will be entertainment industry stakeholders present during the pitchfest, like the pitching day in the YC accelerator program.

“Soozhal isn’t just confined to the film industry; it’s a platform for the entire entertainment industry. At its core, every form of entertainment starts with a story, and behind every story is a writer.
Our goal is to have a writer for every type of entertainment, and we believe we’ll get there soon,” Mejel added.
