- VOYA Games raised $5M from 1kx, Makers Fund, and others to launch Craft World, a dinosaur-themed Web3 resource management game.
- The game has already hit 240K signups and 1.1M trades, using Dyno Coin for in-game NFTs, with plans to launch on iOS, Android, and browsers by year-end.
VOYA Games, a crypto gaming startup with roots in pixel art and post-apocalyptic imagination, has raised $5 million in a seed round to launch its dinosaur-themed Web3 title Craft World and build out a broader shared player economy.
The round was led by 1kx and Makers Fund, with RockawayX also participating. Notably, Jeff Zirlin, cofounder of Sky Mavis (Axie Infinity), and Sebastien Borget, cofounder of The Sandbox, joined as angel investors. Zirlin, now a partner at 1kx, continues to back emerging Web3 game economies.
“Our goal is to build a token ecosystem where games are connected through a shared player economy and culture,” said VOYA Games founder and CEO Oliver Loffler.
Set in a world where humans and dinosaurs coexist after a meteor has reshaped Earth, Craft World is described as a casual resource management sim. Players farm resources, build structures, and trade items—all wrapped in a pixelated aesthetic reminiscent of retro mobile games.
At the core of its in-game economy is Dyno Coin, a utility token used for buying NFT-based items and crafting materials. The token, VOYA clarifies, is non-speculative and does not currently trade on crypto exchanges.
Despite still being in its testnet phase, Craft World has already garnered attention, with over 100,000 downloads on Android, 240,000+ player signups, and 1.1 million in-game trades logged on-chain.
The full launch is expected by the end of 2025, with availability on iOS, Android, and browser platforms.
“They’re building a Web3 gaming ecosystem that prioritizes openness and ownership, treating the game world more like a public good than a closed economy,” said Peter Pan, a pseudonymous partner at 1kx.
VOYA Games was founded in 2023 and traces its creative roots to Angry Dynomites Lab, which released two Ethereum-based NFT collections in 2022. Loffler previously cofounded Kolibri Games, known for hits like Idle Miner Tycoon, which was downloaded over 100 million times before being acquired by Ubisoft in 2020.
The team believes that crafting games like Craft World is a sweet spot for mobile Web3, combining low development costs with frequent update potential. This enables faster iteration and community-driven improvements.
“Development costs for resource management games are comparatively low. This allows us to release updates quickly and frequently,” VOYA noted in its litepaper.
