- VinFast India has partnered with Gurugram-based BatX Energies to boost sustainable EV battery recycling.
- The collaboration between VinFast and BatX Energies will support a circular battery ecosystem in India, reduce reliance on raw material mining, and promote eco-friendly manufacturing practices.
Vietnamese electric vehicle producer VinFast India has joined forces with Gurugram-based BatX Energies to enhance the sustainable battery recycling and upcycling of its electric vehicles (EVs).
By breaking the waste stream of spent batteries and harvesting the key materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel from them and getting them recycled into new production cycles, the partnership aims to establish a circular value chain of batteries.
According to the agreement, VinFast's manufacturing facility and after-purchase services in India would be provided with high-voltage battery recycling, material recovery, and upcycling services by BatX Energies.
By supporting localised recycling solutions that reduce dependence on raw material mining and lower environmental impact, the partnership supports India's growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
The CEO of VinFast Asia, Pham Sanh Chau, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in establishing a circular and eco-friendly battery ecosystem in India.
“This partnership with BatX Energies is a meaningful step toward building a sustainable, circular battery ecosystem in India,” said the CEO of VinFast Asia.
He highlighted VinFast's commitment to environmental protection throughout the entire lifespan of its vehicles.
The partnership will help develop infrastructure capable of supporting the expanding EV industry while delivering long-term environmental benefits, said Utkarsh Singh, CEO, BatX Energies.
The tie-up also enhances Vietnam's and India's leadership roles in advancing circular economy solutions by paving the way for forthcoming projects such as urban mining and second-life battery applications.
With VinFast planning to launch its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India and ramp up production at its Thoothukudi plant, this partnership is likely to be key to the success of the company and the EV sector in the long term.
