• World Liberty Financial will launch its token sale for accredited U.S. investors on October 15.
  • Donald Trump, formerly critical of cryptocurrencies, now supports World Liberty Financial and wants to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world.”

Donald Trump’s decentralized finance (DeFi) project, World Liberty Financial, will launch its token sale for accredited investors next week. Announced via Twitter (X) on Friday, the public sale is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, and is open to those who qualified through the project’s whitelist.

Whitelist applications began in September, allowing prospective clients to secure their spot. Currently, World Liberty Financial is available exclusively to U.S. accredited investors. According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), accredited investors are individuals or partners with a net worth of at least $1 million (excluding their primary residence) or an annual income of at least $200,000 (or $300,000 with a spouse or partner) for the past two years, with an expectation of similar earnings in the current year. The project aims to eventually open its doors to all Americans.

Initially announced by Eric Trump in August, World Liberty Financial operates on the Ethereum blockchain and focuses on providing borrowing and lending crypto services. Last month, the team revealed details in an exclusive interview with Decrypt’s sister company, Rug Radio, emphasizing their vision of becoming a “one-stop-shop for DeFi across the globe.”

DeFi, which utilizes blockchain technology to replace traditional financial services, has become a dynamic but risky space in the crypto industry, with examples like Uniswap leading the charge. However, hacks remain common.

As the U.S. presidential election approaches, Trump has positioned himself as a crypto-friendly candidate, despite previously criticizing Bitcoin. His involvement in NFT collectibles and statements like wanting “all remaining Bitcoin to be mined on American soil” signal a shift in stance. Trump claims that World Liberty Financial will “help make America the crypto capital of the world.”
