even if his appeal attempt is accepted, he will have to sit in prison for the next year or so while his defense lawyers prepare for the appeal hearing...
and if his appeal is rejected, he faces his 64 month sentence 🥲https://t.co/vMlOY5cRIh
After Pertsev was convicted, his legal team quickly filed an appeal with the s-Hertogenbosch Court of Appeal. They hoped to prepare for the trial at home with internet access after requesting bail.
However, the bail request was denied. Additionally, Pertsev's prison refused to give him access to a computer to help his lawyers prepare for the trial, according to the report.
Meanwhile, co-founder Roman Storm's legal case in the United States is ongoing. A judge in the case, Katherine Polk Failla, agreed to delay his upcoming trial despite objections from the prosecution during a recent court hearing in lower Manhattan.
Storm's defense attorneys filed a request for a trial delay citing the case's complexity and the extensive amount of evidence to review, as per a court document. According to Storm's lawyers, additional time is needed because this case involves complex and novel legal and factual issues.
They also stated that the government has continuously provided a large volume of evidence, including millions of pages of documents, many in Russian requiring translation, which the defense is still reviewing and discussing with Storm.
