The Good Bug, a consumer-focused nutraceutical brand specialising in gut health, has raised ₹100 crore (approximately $12 million) in a new funding round led by Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital. Existing investor Fireside Ventures also participated in the round, reaffirming its commitment to the Mumbai-based startup.
Founded in 2022 by Keshav Biyani and Prabhu Karthikeyan, The Good Bug has quickly established itself in India’s wellness space with a robust portfolio of gut health products, including clinically tested synbiotic formulas, probiotics, prebiotic fibres, and its popular 14-day Detox formula. The brand’s “Ferments” line, which includes kombuchas, water kefirs, and fermented pickles, further reinforces its holistic approach to digestive health.
The fresh funds will be used to scale R&D in microbiome science, ramp up clinical trials, and enhance distribution and brand presence across India.
“This new capital infusion will be pivotal in accelerating our research and development efforts, driving groundbreaking innovations in gut health through rigorous R&D,” said co-founder Keshav Biyani.
“We’ll also scale our marketing and distribution strategies to enhance consumer awareness and bring our products to more households across India.”
Earlier in April, the company launched Metabolically Lean, a gut-based supplement designed to naturally stimulate GLP-1, a hormone that regulates appetite and metabolic function. The product is part of The Good Bug’s broader effort to create clinically validated solutions for preventive health.
The investment comes at a time when India’s nutraceuticals market is projected to hit $18 billion by 2025, driven by post-pandemic consumer focus on immunity and preventive care. Gut health, in particular, is emerging as a critical area within this growth.
“With strong momentum and a clear strategy, The Good Bug is well-positioned to lead in key wellness categories as India’s nutraceuticals market continues to grow,”said Bhavani Rana, investment advisor to Susquehanna Asia VC.
