- Star Health Insurance expands its Home Health Care initiative to 100 locations, covering 85% of its customer base with cashless doorstep services.
- The initiative, focused on treating common illnesses at home, has benefited over 15,000 patients and is supported by partnerships with top healthcare providers.
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd has expanded its Home Health Care (HHC) initiative to 100 locations across India, the company announced on Wednesday. Launched in July 2023, the program now covers 85% of Star Health’s customer base, offering cashless medical care at home.
The initiative aims to improve healthcare accessibility by providing doorstep services, reducing hospitalization costs, and addressing logistical challenges. Patients can receive medical attention within three hours, with doctors assessing their conditions, diagnosing illnesses, and providing necessary treatments. If hospitalization is required, patients are referred accordingly, though fewer than 1% have needed escalation.
Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune have seen the highest adoption rates, with services primarily used for conditions such as viral fever, dengue, enteric fever, acute gastroenteritis, and respiratory infections. More than 15,000 patients have benefited from the program through home admissions and consultations.
Anand Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Star Health, emphasized the company’s focus on enhancing healthcare accessibility.
“At Star Health, we believe that health insurance goes beyond providing financial coverage. It is a bridge to accessible and affordable healthcare for every individual. Our vision is to remove barriers such as high hospitalization costs, logistical challenges, and the stress associated with seeking care. By bringing quality medical care closer to customers, we aim to ensure their comfort and peace of mind,” Roy said.
The expansion has been facilitated through partnerships with healthcare providers such as Care24, Portea, Athulya, Argala, and Apollo. These collaborations have enabled Star Health to scale its services and ensure quality medical care for its policyholders.
Star Health, India’s largest retail health insurance company, has been operating since 2006 and offers a range of insurance products, including specialized coverage for critical illnesses. The company has a broad distribution network with over 14,000 network hospitals and a significant agent base.
With its growing footprint in home healthcare, Star Health aims to redefine insurance services by integrating medical assistance directly into patients’ homes, making healthcare more accessible and convenient across the country.
