The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) has announced the development of a new digital product called "Entity Locker," designed to streamline document storage and sharing for businesses.

The announcement was made by Shri Nand Kumarum, President & CEO of NeGD, during the 19th India Digital Summit (IDS) 2025, organized by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

“You can authorize a person to register and pull 47 available documents through this. One of the key features of Entity Locker is that all documents are in your account, nobody else can see it,” said Kumarum.
“We have given 10 GB of data space for that. The authorized representative can store it. So the structure here is that whether you are in any business, whether e-commerce or export or any business, you can come to this website, register, start pulling your documents, and share and store them. Gradually, you can build your business around it. It reduces the regulatory compliance business cost and customer acquisition.”

The Entity Locker initiative aims to enhance the ease of doing business by offering a centralized and secure platform, potentially reducing the burden of regulatory processes and operational challenges. Shri Kumarum emphasized the tool's role in creating a more efficient digital ecosystem.

In addition to the announcement, Shri Kumarum discussed the broader vision of strengthening India's API-driven ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of seamless data exchange and collaboration with state and local bodies, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

"Our vision is to deliver a truly digital experience where tools like DigiLocker and DigiYatra work seamlessly to simplify processes. By addressing gaps like data security during hotel check-ins and automating document exchanges, we are paving the way for a smarter, safer API-driven ecosystem.," he said.

The two-day IDS 2025 event, supported by initiatives such as Digital India and Skill India, also featured partnerships with prominent industry players, including Amazon.in, PhonePe, and AWS. The event served as a platform to showcase innovations and discuss advancements in digital governance and technology.
