The Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, in collaboration with Mumbai Biocluster, successfully concluded its 5th Annual Biologics Conference, establishing new benchmarks for biopharmaceutical innovation and collaboration in India.

The two-day event, held at Novotel Dona Sylvia Resort in Goa, attracted over 700 attendees from across the industry spectrum.

The conference, which has evolved into a premier platform for the biopharmaceutical sector, featured an impressive lineup of 150 distinguished speakers, 12 key sponsors, and 41 exhibitors.

It included industry giants such as Repligen, ThermoFisher Scientific, and Cytiva. Dr. Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of developing indigenous technologies for India's unique context.

A significant highlight was the announcement of the Dr. K. Anji Reddy Memorial Fellowship for Affordable Biopharmaceuticals, awarded to Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla, Chairman of the Serum Institute of India.

The event also introduced new initiatives to nurture emerging talent, including Travel Grants and the Young Leader Program.

The conference featured comprehensive discussions on crucial topics such as mRNA technology, cell therapy, and AI-ML integration in biopharma.

Dr. Himanshu Gadgil, CEO of Enzene, unveiled EnzeneX™ 2.0, marking India's first fully connected continuous manufacturing platform for economical monoclonal antibody production.

"We cannot follow the 'Silicon Valley playbook' or 'MassBio recipe,'" stated Dr. Gokhale during his address, emphasizing the need for India to develop its path in biomanufacturing innovation.

The event concluded with awards for outstanding poster presentations and exhibitions, reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation in India's growing biotech sector.
