- Mumbai-based ideaForge receives DGCA approval to launch a certified drone pilot training programme aimed at upskilling 200–250 individuals annually.
- The initiative aligns with India’s push to become a global drone hub and follows ideaForge’s strategic partnership with U.S.-based Vantage Robotics.
Mumbai-based drone manufacturer ideaForge Technology Limited has received certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to offer Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) training under the Small Class category.
The five-day programme is designed to equip aspiring drone pilots with the skills and knowledge required to meet regulatory standards and ensure safe drone operations across diverse sectors.
Open to Indian citizens between 18 and 65 years of age, the training programme does not impose any restrictions based on professional background. Each cohort will undergo two days of theoretical training and three days of hands-on instruction, covering drone handling, simulator use, and basic maintenance.
The initiative aims to train 200 to 250 pilots every year and plays into a broader national ambition to cultivate a self-reliant drone ecosystem that can support sectors like defence, agriculture, mining, and disaster response.
“This marks a step forward in our mission to build best-in-class drone pilots and aligns with India’s goal of becoming a global drone hub by 2030,” said Amol Suryawanshi, senior director for operations at ideaForge.
Certified trainers will guide participants through key topics such as aerodynamics, air traffic control (ATC) procedures, drone analytics, safety protocols, and the principles of flight. To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least Class 10 and possess a valid government-issued identification.
Additionally, ideaForge recently partnered with Vantage Robotics, a nano and micro UAV firm based in Silicon Valley. The collaboration is set to enhance ideaForge’s offerings in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems and support its push into the North American market.
Demonstrating the real-world application of its technology, ideaForge also played a role in the recent capture and safe relocation of a leopard found roaming on the ICRISAT campus in Hyderabad.
