Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a strategic four-day diplomatic mission to France and the United States, marking several historic firsts in India's international engagement.

The visit, which commenced on February 10, underscores India's growing influence in global technology governance and strategic partnerships.

In Paris, Modi will join French President Emmanuel Macron to co-chair the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, bringing together world leaders and global tech CEOs.

The summit aims to foster collaborative approaches to AI technology, emphasizing innovation and public good while ensuring inclusive, secure, and trustworthy development.

The French leg of the visit includes significant diplomatic milestones, including the review of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for India-France strategic partnership.

Modi will make history by inaugurating India's first Consulate in Marseille and visiting the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, where India is a consortium partner.

The Prime Minister will also pay homage to Indian soldiers at the Mazargues War Cemetery who sacrificed their lives during both World Wars.

Following his French engagements, Modi will make an unprecedented visit to Washington, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to meet a newly-elected US President within three weeks of inauguration.

The meeting with President Donald Trump carries particular significance, building on their previous working relationship from Trump's 2017-2021 term.

The leaders are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in technology, trade, defense, energy, and supply chain resilience.

Modi emphasized the personal rapport between the leaders, noting his "warm recollection" of working with Trump during his first term in establishing a Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

This visit aims to leverage that foundation for further collaboration, focusing on mutual benefits and global impact.
