- Fractal Analytics has proposed a ₹150 Cr project to the IndiaAI Mission to develop a multimodal medical AI model aimed at addressing India’s healthcare accessibility gaps.
- The company is seeking ₹127 Cr in government support for compute infrastructure and plans to invest ₹42 Cr of its own into a separate large reasoning model project.
IPO-bound artificial intelligence startup Fractal Analytics has reportedly submitted a proposal worth ₹150 crore (approximately $17.5 million) to the IndiaAI Mission, aiming to build a multimodal medical foundational model. The initiative is designed to address healthcare accessibility by deploying AI in regions with limited access to medical professionals.
According to a report by The Hindu Businessline, the Mumbai-based company is seeking ₹127 crore in government support specifically for the computing infrastructure required to develop the model.
Fractal's founder and CEO Srikanth Velamakanni emphasized the model’s role in bridging the healthcare gap, stating it would apply “specialised medical knowledge to regions where it is most scarce.”
The proposed model will form part of a broader national strategy to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) in critical sectors. This includes Fractal’s parallel effort to create India’s first large reasoning model (LRM), for which it has outlined a total investment of ₹118 crore. As part of that project, the company is contributing ₹42 crore from its own funds while seeking a ₹76 crore capital subsidy from the central government.
Fractal’s work on foundational AI models reflects the country’s growing interest in strategic AI infrastructure. The company previously launched Kalaido.ai, an AI-powered tool capable of generating images from text in Indian languages, signaling its commitment to indigenous AI innovation.
