• Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal has launched Opptra, a business helping consumer brands expand into Asia through franchising and e-commerce expertise.
  • Opptra has already launched two franchising businesses—Exporio (fashion & lifestyle) and Terraspan (home & kitchenware)—with plans for further expansion.

Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal has introduced Opptra, a company that offers support to consumer brands to establish a presence in Asia. Opptra operates domain-specific franchising businesses in local markets and leverages centrally developed technologies and a globally accessible supply chain infrastructure.

Opptra franchising businesses will be licensing partners or master franchisees to facilitate market entry for brands, regulatory concerns, and product adaptation. Opptra's ecommerce-centric expansion model diverges from distribution models that are more focused on physical retail. Opptra's emphasis is to manage online and offline sales in sync with consumer behavior and industry trends.

Asia represents 70% of global consumer growth, and the rise of e-commerce has significantly lowered barriers to market entry. Opptra's approach marries AI-localization, digital-first brand strategy, and rapid fulfillment systems to propel product launches and long-term brand growth.

Explaining the company’s vision, Binny Bansal stated:

“Many consumer brands have the potential to scale globally, but navigating new markets is tough—cultural, infrastructural, and regulatory differences make it complex, especially in a rapidly evolving retail landscape. Opptra unlocks Asia for brands by combining deep market expertise, cutting-edge tech, and a powerful supply chain. But Asia is just the start—our longer-term vision is to take brands from anywhere to everywhere around the world.”

Currently, two franchising businesses are operational under Opptra. Exporio focuses on fashion and lifestyle brands in the GCC region, while Terraspan specializes in home and kitchenware brands across India, the GCC, and Southeast Asia. Additional ventures covering electronics, sports, baby care, and general merchandise are under development.

To support these businesses, Opptra is integrating automation, robotics, and smart logistics into its supply chain, drawing from Bansal’s experience in scaling Flipkart.

The company has also assembled a leadership team with industry expertise:

  • Ranjit Babu (CEO, Electronics & General Merchandise) – Formerly with Nokia, Apple, and Amazon India
  • Giridhar Yasa (Head of Technology) – Previously at Lendingkart and Flipkart
  • Anand Raj (Head of Supply Chain Operations) – Experience at Flipkart and Swiggy
  • Puneet Khanna (VP, Exporio GCC) – Formerly at Apparel Group
  • Rahul Gupta (VP, Terraspan) – Previously worked with Amazon and Upscalio

With its franchising businesses and infrastructure now operational, Opptra plans to expand further, supporting brands in navigating new markets and scaling their presence globally.
