A dormant Bitcoin whale wallet that dates back to the era when Satoshi Nakamoto was still active has woken up after 10 long years. The Bitcoin wallet transferred its entire stack of 687.33 BTC, worth almost $44 million, to two different wallets, on Monday.
“The whale received 687.33 $BTC ($630K at that time) on Jan 12, 2014, when the price was $917,” noted Lookonchain in an X (formerly Twitter post).

Wallets like these, which are often termed “Satoshi-era wallets” never fail to spark curiosity not only in the Bitcoin community but also in the broader crypto community. Not to mention, many, believe that these wallets belong to Satoshi Nakamoto himself.
Back in August 2023, another dormant address became active, moving 1,005 BTC mined in 2010. Additionally, in January, almost 50,000 dormant bitcoins were activated shortly after the approval of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States.
