• Boston Scientific has received FDA approval for its FARAWAVE NAV Ablation Catheter, designed to streamline cardiac ablation procedures for AF patients.
  • The newly approved FARAWAVE NAV Catheter integrates mapping and therapy, supported by the FARAVIEW Software, enhancing real-time visualizations during procedures.

Boston Scientific has received FDA approval for its FARAWAVE™ NAV Ablation Catheter and 510(k) clearance for the FARAVIEW™ Software, marking a significant advancement in treating paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). These technologies, which are compatible with the company's FARAPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) System and OPAL HDx™ Mapping System, aim to enhance the precision and efficiency of cardiac ablation procedures.

Traditionally, cardiac mapping required separate catheters for examining electrical patterns and planning therapy. With the new FARAWAVE NAV Ablation Catheter, Boston Scientific has combined mapping and therapy delivery into one device, reducing the need for additional equipment and streamlining workflows.

The catheter, equipped with magnetic navigation, integrates seamlessly with the FARAVIEW Software, providing real-time visualizations of catheter placement and therapy application, improving procedural efficiency.

Nick Spadea-Anello, President of Electrophysiology at Boston Scientific, commented on the new technologies:

"The addition of the FARAWAVE NAV Ablation Catheter and FARAVIEW Software provides a next-level pulsed field ablation mapping experience. These tools, built on a safe, clinically-proven platform used globally, are designed to increase confidence in therapy delivery and simplify mapped workflows."

The FARAVIEW Software tracks the catheter magnetically, enabling physicians to visualize pulsed field applications and monitor cumulative therapy delivery. This real-time feedback helps guide ablation strategies and improves accuracy.

“These tools could improve guidance, limit fluoroscopy times, and assist in assessing energy delivery locations during procedures,” noted Dr. Vivek Reddy, Director of Electrophysiology at Mount Sinai.

Boston Scientific's launch of these technologies in the U.S. reinforces its leadership in medical innovation, aiming to simplify and improve cardiac care through enhanced technology. The company's continued advancements are expected to significantly impact the treatment of AF and related conditions, offering more precise and accessible care to patients.
