• Apple is reportedly working on Project Mulberry, an AI-powered revamp of its Health app, featuring personalized health insights and expert-driven recommendations.
  • The new features may include AI-driven workout analysis, food tracking, and health coaching, with data integration across Apple devices and potential Fitness+ tie-ins.

Apple is reportedly working on a significant overhaul of its Health app, incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) to provide personalized health insights. The initiative, internally referred to as Project Mulberry, aims to integrate AI-driven recommendations and data tracking across Apple devices, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The updated Health app is expected to roll out alongside the iOS 19.4 update. Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams and Sumbul Desai, head of the company’s health teams, are said to be leading the project, ensuring a smooth development process.

As per reports, Apple is developing an AI-powered health assistant that will analyze data collected from devices like the iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, and compatible third-party gadgets. The AI system is expected to provide personalized health recommendations based on users’ vitals and activity levels.

According to Gurman, Apple has attempted health-focused innovations in the past, including a service connecting users with doctors for general medical queries. However, previous efforts faced setbacks, and Apple is now focusing on integrating AI directly into its Health app for a more personalized experience.

The AI system is reportedly trained using data from Apple’s in-house medical team, and Apple plans to bring in external doctors specializing in areas such as sleep, nutrition, physical therapy, mental health, and cardiology. These experts will create video content addressing common health conditions and lifestyle improvement tips.

"These videos will reportedly be shown as part of the recommendations from the AI doctor if the app notices poor health metrics from the data collected," Gurman stated.

The tech giant is also said to be exploring food tracking capabilities, allowing users to log their meals while the app calculates calories and macronutrients. The AI-powered health assistant may then provide tailored nutrition recommendations.

Another potential feature includes camera access, enabling the AI system to monitor workout routines and offer technique adjustments. Reports suggest these features might be tied to Apple’s Fitness+ subscription service.

To support its expanded health initiatives, Apple is reportedly setting up a new facility near Oakland, California, where doctors will create video content for the app. Additionally, the company is said to be searching for a "doctor personality" to serve as the AI chatbot’s virtual face.

While Apple has not officially confirmed these plans, the reported revamp signals a broader push toward AI-driven health solutions. The rollout timeline remains uncertain, but the anticipated changes could reshape Apple's approach to digital health tracking.
