Amazon India has entered a strategic partnership with Gentari Green Mobility India (Gentari) to advance its electric vehicle (EV) deployment program, targeting a fleet of 10,000 EVs for last-mile deliveries by 2025. Currently, the company has over 7,200 EVs in operation and aims to expand this number significantly in the next two years.
Under the partnership, Gentari will procure and mobilize EVs in various Indian cities, offering comprehensive fleet management services to Amazon India’s Delivery Service Providers (DSPs). These services will ensure the seamless operation and upkeep of the EV fleet, including access to electric three-wheelers, charging, and parking facilities.
"We aim to empower our delivery service partners by providing them access to the right electric vehicles, end-to-end vehicle life cycle management services, as well as charging and parking facilities," said Abhinav Singh, VP of Operations at Amazon India.
The initiative underscores Amazon’s commitment to sustainability and its efforts to contribute to India’s net-zero targets.
Nikhil Thomas, CEO of Gentari Green Mobility India, expressed confidence in the collaboration's potential to shape a cleaner future for India's transportation sector.
"As we work together to deploy more EVs and contribute to India's net zero targets, I'm confident this collaboration will pave the way for a cleaner and electric future for India's transportation sector," he stated.
This partnership comes as part of Amazon's ongoing commitment to sustainability, positioning the company as a key player in driving green mobility in India.
