The Adani Group has announced plans to invest Rs 6,000 crore in the development of two multi-specialty hospitals and medical colleges in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the US-based Mayo Clinic, aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure and medical education in India.

The investment is part of a broader Rs 60,000 crore commitment made by Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani and his family toward healthcare, education, and skill development. This pledge was first announced on his 60th birthday. Additionally, the initiative aligns with the Rs 10,000 crore donation Adani pledged last week during his younger son Jeet’s wedding.

"The development of Adani Health City is the first of many major projects from this contribution, which will go a long way towards providing affordable, world-class healthcare to people from every section of Indian society. I am confident that our partnership with Mayo Clinic will help elevate healthcare standards in India, with a special emphasis on complex disease care and medical innovation," said Adani.

The planned health campuses will each include a 1,000-bed multi-super-specialty hospital, a medical college with an annual intake of 150 undergraduate students, and facilities for over 80 resident doctors and 40 fellows. Additional features include step-down and transitional care units, as well as advanced research centers focusing on artificial intelligence, biomedical informatics, and clinical research.

Mayo Clinic will provide strategic guidance on planning, clinical operations, and technology integration for the hospitals. The initiative is expected to serve people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds while contributing to medical education and research.

While Mumbai and Ahmedabad are the initial locations, Adani Group has indicated that similar healthcare projects could be expanded to other cities in the future.
