• Adani Defence & Aerospace has become the first private Indian company to offer indigenised sonobuoy solutions.
  • The partnership with US-based Sparton aims to develop and localise anti-submarine warfare systems for Indian and global markets.

Adani Defence & Aerospace has entered a binding collaboration agreement with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC), a group company of Elbit Systems, to co-develop Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems for Indian and global markets. The deal marks a significant step toward localising the assembly of advanced electronic warfare solutions in India.

Sparton is a leading US-based provider of ASW technology and has a longstanding relationship with the Indian Navy. The partnership will integrate Sparton's expertise in anti-submarine technologies with Adani’s domestic manufacturing and development capabilities to deliver critical systems like sonobuoys.

With this agreement, Adani Defence & Aerospace becomes the first private sector company in India to offer indigenised sonobuoy solutions—mission-critical systems used to detect, locate, and track submarines and other underwater threats.

Sonobuoys play a pivotal role in enhancing Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA) and are essential to protecting carrier strike groups and ensuring maritime security.

"For decades, India has been dependent on imports for such critical technology," said Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace.
“This partnership to bring world-class sonobuoy technology and integrating it with India's defence ecosystem is a step towards building self-reliant capabilities in this critical domain.”

Aligned with national priorities under ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and the ‘Make in India’ initiatives, the collaboration aims to reduce reliance on foreign OEMs and build a self-sustaining defence manufacturing base.

Jeet Adani, Vice President of Adani Enterprises, emphasised, “The Indian Navy requires integrated, mission-ready ISR and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, including critical systems like sonobuoys, that are indigenously developed, swiftly deployable, and globally competitive.”

Donnelly Bohan, President and CEO of Sparton, added that the partnership will help localise assemblage, develop high-tech skillsets, and deliver reliable ASW solutions tailored to India’s naval needs.
