Asia isn’t lagging when it comes to mental health innovation; in fact, the region is fast becoming a vibrant hub for new ideas and impactful solutions. While stigma and access challenges remain, a wave of startups and initiatives is harnessing technology, research, and regional collaboration to reimagine mental healthcare

From AI-powered therapy platforms to integrated workplace wellness programs, Asia’s mental health landscape is evolving rapidly, proving that the region can match-and often lead-global trends in mental healthcare.

The following startups exemplify this spirit of innovation and commitment to making quality mental health support accessible for all.

1. Wysa

Wysa, a Bengaluru-based AI-powered mental health platform launched in 2016, combines AI with evidence-based therapeutic techniques to provide accessible mental health support. Users interact with Wysa’s friendly AI chatbot, represented by a cheerful penguin, which offers cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), guided meditations, breathing exercises, and emotional support.

Wysa caters to individuals, employers, insurers, and even healthcare providers, ensuring mental health support reaches diverse groups. Its AI-powered platform is anonymous, secure, and available 24/7, providing users with a judgment-free space to express their thoughts.

For those needing more than chatbot support, Wysa offers hybrid care through “Wysa Copilot,” combining AI and human therapy for a more personalized experience.

The startup has partnered with global organizations like the UK’s NHS, proving its clinical value in improving user mental health. In 2025, it even acquired April Health, a U.S.-based behavioral health provider, expanding its services to integrate primary care with mental health support. This acquisition also strengthens its presence in the U.S. market.

With nearly $30 million in funding and support from investors like Healthworx, Wysa has facilitated over 500 million conversations and delivered 2 million CBT sessions.

2. Lissun

Lissun is a Gurugram-based tech-enabled mental health platform that aims to make mental health support accessible and scalable. Founded by alumni from IIT, IIM, ISB, and NIMHANS, Lissun focuses on providing both digital and physical ("phygital") mental healthcare.

The platform supports individuals, corporates, and educational institutions, offering solutions for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, lifestyle management, and more.

Beyond therapy, Lissun provides specialized support for high-stress challenges, including chronic illnesses, exam anxiety, and workplace pressures. Lissun also runs "Sunshine by Lissun," a dedicated initiative for child development services, addressing neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD.

In 2024, Lissun raised $2.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by RPSG Capital Ventures, with additional backing from Multiply Ventures, Atrium Angels, IvyCap Ventures, Rainmatter, and Sucseed Ventures, bringing its total funding to around $5 million. These funds are being used to expand its services, enhance technology, and develop AI-driven solutions for scalable mental healthcare.

Serving over 40 cities across India and providing more than 35,000 therapy sessions, Lissun is rapidly becoming a trusted name in the mental health space. By integrating technology with empathetic care, it is redefining how mental health support is delivered in India.

3. MindFi

MindFi is a Singapore-based mental health platform that focuses on providing cost-effective and accessible mental wellness solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Recognizing that traditional Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) are often expensive and underutilized, MindFi offers a more efficient alternative with a proactive, data-driven approach.

The platform provides a range of services, including on-demand therapy, self-care resources, and multi-channel support such as text and chat options. These services are available 24/7, making it easier for employees to access support whenever they need it. MindFi also offers real-time analytics and insights, allowing employers to monitor the utilization and impact of mental health programs on their teams.

Additionally, the platform includes self-assessment tools, educational content, and an easy-to-use mobile app, ensuring users can engage with mental wellness in a way that suits them best.

In May 2023, MindFi secured $750,000 in pre-seed funding led by M Venture Partners, iGlobe Partners, and other prominent investors. The funding is being used to enhance product development, expand localization in key Asian markets, and build a strong team of mental health experts.
